Muckshaw Farm

unique features

Muckshaw Farm consists of 333 acres of farmland. The property is protected against future development by an easement held by the State of New Jersey, and is nestled within a landscape of many family farms. RVC was instrumental in developing the SAgE program with the Foodshed Alliance, which shares RVC’s commitment to the land and the community. The Sustainable Agriculture Enterprise (SAgE) program practices environmentally sensitive, sustainable agriculture on the farm, providing affordable lease agreements to sustainable farm businesses.

history

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) began assembling the properties that make up Muckshaw Ponds Preserve and Muckshaw Farm at the height of the development boom in 1988, in order to protect important species, habitats and farmland from the threat of development. After building these preserved lands to 534 acres, TNC transferred the property to RVC in March 2020.

RVC transferred ownership of the farm to the Foodshed Alliance in 2021, which continues our joint goal to provide low-cost access to preserved farmland. For more information on SAgE, click here

public access
